What is the easiest way to shape bread?

You can make them in several ways. My kids love to make a ball and then put their thumb through it, and they get shaped into a cake. I like to make mine into a large rope and then join the ends together. It works either way. The important thing to remember is that the dough will come together as it's baked (or air-fried). So, make sure the hole in the middle is a little bit bigger than you want it to be when you start.

How to store:

I find that we usually don't have anything to store, but since you all asked, I wanted to tell you the best way to store them. Let them cool to room temperature, then put the remaining cake in an airtight container. You can either leave it at room temperature, where it will last 1-2 days, or longer and put it in the refrigerator, where it should last for about 3 days.

How to freeze:

You can make a double batch and freeze one, or freeze a couple for a quick breakfast later. To freeze, wrap the bagels individually and place them in the freezer. To use, thaw at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 ⅓ cup self-rising flour
  • 1 ½ cups shredded asiago cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour, buttermilk, and 1/2 cup cream cheese.
  2. Use a wooden spoon to mix.
  3. Lightly grease your surface and knead the dough gently.
  4. Form into a round shape and cut into four pieces.
  5. Working one piece at a time, wrap each into a 5- to 7-inch rope, then pinch the ends together to form a circle.
  6. I put a piece of paper in the air fryer, but you don't have to.
  7. Place the cake in the air fryer (don't let it touch, so you may have to make two batches)
  8. Spread the remaining amount of cheese evenly on the cake.
  9. Air fry at 350 F, air fryer setting, 8-10 minutes, to check for doneness.
  10. I love to serve these warm!
